Clip Cards and how to use them in your kindergarten classrooms

New teaching practices are implemented in kindergarten classrooms to make learning a fun experience. In kindergartens, it’s necessary to make the process more fun. It is the first step in the regular education system, where people learn to read and write. One such simple method is Clip Cards.

 

What is a clip card?

 

It’s a type of task card. In this, a card and a few cloth clips are used. Clip cards help children learn how to read and write.

Its function is easy, asking the kid to clip the clothespins to the asked positions on the card.

The advantage of clip cards is that they can be used in different ways with minimal effort and are very easy to use.

For example, a Card with numbers instructs the kid to clip the pins to the position of a specific number. Another such method is that, if a card has the number 3, the kid has to clip three pins, into the card. 

 

What are the benefits of using a clip card system?

The first benefit of using clip cards is that they make learning more enjoyable. Clip card games ensure student participation in the classroom.

The activity develops problem-solving skills in students. 

Clip card games, physical movements are also included, thus helping develop fine motor skills.



Different types of clip cards and uses

 

Number clip cards

In this card, maybe a number is shown in the card. Kids need to clip as many clips as the number on the card.

And this is used to do simple maths, the card shows 3+2=, and kids need to Clip as many clips to the card.

Counting Clip Cards

In this type, the card contains a few pictures of an object, the kid needed to count the number of things on the card and clip pins as the number counted.

Alphabet clip cards

This can be organized, in different ways. One simple example is showing an image of an object and identifying the letter in which the name Starts.

Word Clip Cards

In this, a picture of a particular object and three words are given to the side. Kids need to clip the pin into the correct word that matches the object.

 

Clip cards can use in different learning methods. While using clip cards, there are a few things to remember: –

  • Make it simple – don’t include too many details in one clip card make it simple.
  • Make it colorful – Use different colors on the card. Which makes kids enjoy the process.
  • Add images – visual learning is the best method to catch the attention of students. Hence add good images to increase the interest of learners.


Clip cards are a simple method to teach letters, as this process involves recalling the letter or word when they see an object making it more useful. This recalling process repeated a few times will help to memorize the words thoroughly.

As this method involves more colorful pictures and words, they don’t feel like learning it might feel like a play.

Which is good, kids improve their vocabulary without knowing.

This simple method reduces the friction for learning in students.
